Senjōgahara (戦場ヶ原). A wonderful hiking route in the city of Nikko. It is around 1,400 metres above sea-level. This place has a very interesting name which I think can be translated as ‘the plain of battlefield’ which refers to a mythical battle. The japanese myth said that the gods of mountain got a battle here.
Private car is banned there to keep the place free from pollution. Only low emission buses available for visitors back and forth to the city.
