While sitting just above Arch Rock, perched on a boulder waiting for the sun to set sitting cross-legged and a tad chilled, I realized I felt safe and secure all alone in the desert. Despite not having service, despite the occasional stranger passing by, despite my lack of familiarity with the venomous snakes and spiders I’d read about…I knew I’d be just fine. A nice reminder that any new endeavour will always feel daunting. People will tell you to be careful traveling as a solo female but they don’t know you, your experiences, how well traveled you already are internationally, and how sound your judgement truly is. I remind myself when I’m scared or have doubts – you can do this, you’ve already done so much.
